In this therapeutic art class we'll be exploring the Chakras as a vehicle for self-reflection and creative expression.
In the Hindu/Yoga tradition there are believed to be 7 Chakras. Each Chakra is a different color and are considered psycho-energetic centers in the subtle or non-physical human body. Depending on how 'open' they are, these spinning energy centers are thought to affect our emotional and physical well-being.
In this class we will explore the physical location, color and attributes of each Chakra - positive and negative. Through self-reflection and creative experimentation we'll make one or more Chakra Boxes. Each Chakra Box is basically a kind of metaphorical mini-diorama.
These classes are inspired by psychological theories, philosophical ideas as well as religious and spiritual traditions. Participants need not believe in any of the principles used in the classes. We simply use these traditions and ideas for creative insight and inspiration. Use them as different ways to explore the self.
